Gladwell, in his New York Times #1 bestseller Outliers: The Story of Success, writes “…the values of the world we inhabit and the people we surround ourselves with have a profound effect on who we are.” Outliers looks at how success is nurtured through culture and relationships, an example being the town of Roseto, Pennsylvania, where an actively engaged community resulted in higher life expectancies. Gladwell’s findings relate to The Rix Center principles, which are to add value to the community by engaging business members, resulting in a higher quality of life for the community.
