Watts, author of Small Worlds and researcher and professor at Columbia University, presented a mathematical theory with mathematician Steven Strogatz, of the small world phenomenon.  This created a new scientific discipline called network theory which proves the power of positive engagement, and “discovering what you can do for others.” Watts’ findings on the power of social networks highlight the importance of the networks engaging business, education, and community partners through The Rix Center.
