YVR named Best Airport in North America
Vancouver International Airport (YVR) has been named Best Airport in North America by the 2011 Skytrax World Airport Awards held in Copenhagen, Denmark. It’s the second year in a row YVR has been awarded the designation, and the third since 2007.

Since 1960, the Vancouver airport has been serving local and international travellers and today is one of the busiest airports in Canada. It has been recognized numerous times for its excellent service and governance model, including The Vancouver Board of Trade Rix Award for Engaged Corporate Citizenship in 2009.

In recent history, The Vancouver Board of Trade was an integral partner in establishing the Vancouver airport as a local airport authority, separate from federal legislation. YVR was one of the first to change to the local governance model, and today the model has been adopted by all airports across Canada.
